4 Kansas City Summertime Activities

Celebrate summer in Kansas City at one of these four fantastic warm-weather festivities!

No matter if you’re on the Kansas side or the Missouri side, Kansas City is a wonderful place to call home all year long. Summer especially is a great time to enjoy all there is to Kansas City, as long as you’re not afraid to venture out in the heat a bit! If you do prefer to stay home and beat the heat, residents can always stop by the Village West pool between 10 AM and 10 PM, and now that our hot tub is finally repaired you can get a nice jet massage while you’re relaxing.

Boulevardia

Every Father’s Day weekend head over to the Stockyards District for Boulevardia. At Boulevardia experience “The World’s Finest Pop-Up Party Nation”, dedicated to deepening the sense of community throughout the Kansas City area. Enjoy live music, local food and drink (especially the local craft beer industry), and carnival games and rides for the whole family. For more information and to see this year’s lineup head over to their website, and while you’re there follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to keep up with more news and happenings in the area.

Riverfest

For another yearly summer tradition, head to Berkley Riverfront on July 4 for some of the best Independence Day entertainment, and of course fireworks, in the entire Kansas City area. Enjoy an afternoon and evening full of family-friendly entertainment and activities including two stages for live music. End the night the only way you can on July 4th, with what’s arguably the best fireworks show in the region. Learn more and get tickets on their website, and see other posts and pictures by following them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Kansas City Zoo

Slather up the sunscreen and head over to the Kansas City Zoo this summer! Started as an idea in 1907 and officially opening in 1909, the zoo has grown well past the four lions, three monkeys, a wolf, fox, coyote, badger, lynx, eagle, and other birds. Today the zoo boasts 202 acres of nature sanctuary, with diverse habitats, cultures, and animals from all around the world. With events all summer long, the Kansas City Zoo is a must-visit summer spot! Check out their website for a full calendar of events as well as to learn more about the different exhibits they have open. While you’re there follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube as well!

Hot Country Nights

Any good Kansas Citian will tell you the best summer nights are filled with country music! This summer head across the river to KCMO’s Power & Light District every Thursday for Miller Lite Hot Country Nights presented by Q104 and Midwest Ford. Most shows are free, but you can purchase any VIP upgrades to kick the party off right. Check out who’s playing this week on their website, and follow the Power & Light District on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to keep up with other events and activities throughout the summer.
